A Feast Worth Waiting For
"In Jerusalem, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies
will spread a wonderful feast
for all the people of the world.
It will be a delicious banquet
with clear, well-aged wine and choice meat."
Isaiah 25:6 (NLT)

“In Jerusalem, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies
will spread a wonderful feast
for all the people of the world.
It will be a delicious banquet
with clear, well-aged wine and choice meat.
There he will remove the cloud of gloom,
the shadow of death that hangs over the earth.
He will swallow up death forever!
The Sovereign Lord will wipe away all tears.
He will remove forever all insults and mockery
against his land and people.
The Lord has spoken!
In that day the people will proclaim,
“This is our God!
We trusted in him, and he saved us!
This is the Lord, in whom we trusted.
Let us rejoice in the salvation he brings!”
Isaiah 25:6-9 (NLT)
Arise and shine, dear one! God is with you!
"Do we have to eat lamb?"
"I want chocolate Pop-Tarts and anything that's not actual dinner food."
"I'd want that amazing burger from Arctic Circle."
"There has to be Texas Roadhouse rolls with honey cinnamon butter."
That night at dinner, we went around the table sharing what we hoped to enjoy one day at the marriage supper of the Lamb. I laughed at my children's earnest answers and for the record, I'm fully convinced there will be Texas Roadhouse rolls in heaven.
It's a joy to imagine what we have to look forward to. Picture it: every believer from every age, gathered together at a banquet prepared by the Lord of Heaven's Armies. Reunions with those who've gone before us. The sting of death, gone forever. And the Sovereign Lord himself, tenderly wiping away every tear.
But that celebration comes at a cost… one Jesus willingly paid.
"But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed." Isaiah 53:5 (NLT)
The feast is coming because the sacrifice has already been made. Every sin is fully covered. The empty tomb makes the banquet table possible.
As you reflect this week on what our Savior has done, take a moment to thank Him. And when you gather with family this weekend, practice the declaration we will one day all make together:
"This is our God! We trusted in him, and he saved us! This is the Lord, in whom we trusted. Let us rejoice in the salvation he brings!"
It’s a feast worth waiting for, dear one!
