Don't Let Your House Go Splat!

Arise and shine, dear one! God is with you!
“Mom, my house keeps falling over!”
My six-year-old son was attempting to build a house with his Magna-tiles on top of the crack where two couch cushions meet. As I watched his careful construction crumble, I saw a perfect teaching moment unfolding.
"What have you been learning at VBS this week, Levi? What are you building your house on? Is it a firm foundation?"
His eyes lit up with understanding. Without another word, he gathered his tiles and moved to the solid dining table. Within minutes, his new house stood tall and sturdy, built on a foundation that wouldn't shift.
You've probably heard Jesus' parable about the wise and foolish builders. Maybe you can even sing the children's song with all the hand motions. But when Jesus told this story, He wasn't looking for people who could simply retell it. In Matthew 7:24, He emphasizes that wisdom comes not just from hearing His words, but from putting them into practice.
Levi could have listened to my advice about foundations and nodded in agreement, but if he'd kept building on that unstable crack between the cushions, his walls would have continued falling. Knowledge without action changes nothing. He had to actually move his building project to see different results.
What about you, dear one? Are you living out what you know to be true from God's Word? Are you putting Jesus' teachings into daily practice, or are you content with just knowing the right answers?
