Evangelism Lessons from a Child
“But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?”
Romans 10:14 (NLT)

Arise and shine, dear one! God is with you!
“Mom, I told my friend about Jesus. I told her Jesus loves her and God made her. I tried to give her my extra Bible, but she didn’t take it. I want to be a missionary when I grow up!”
My 8-year-old daughter, Sarah had just been baptized at church that morning and she was concerned about her friend who she knew didn’t know about Jesus. That afternoon, she was intentional to share the Good News with her. Even though her friend didn’t want the Bible Sarah offered her, there were seeds planted…not only in her friend’s heart, but in Sarah’s as well. I don’t know if Sarah will become a missionary one day, but I certainly see evidence of the work of the Lord in her young life and a boldness to follow Him!
As I looked at my daughter with clear joy in her eyes and a passion for Jesus, it made me wonder, do I have that same boldness to lovingly tell others about the Lord? When was the last time I stepped out of my comfort zone to invite someone to church or tell them how much Jesus loves them?
So often as adults we get caught up in our busy lives and forget the mission to which we have all been called- to share the Gospel with others. As we see in Romans 10:14, “how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?”
Who do you know that needs to hear about Jesus, dear one? Ask God to bring someone to mind who needs to hear about His love. Then take that first step of faith, just like Sarah did, and trust that He will give you the words and the courage to plant seeds of hope in their heart.
