Faith in Bloom
“Consider how the wildflowers grow: They don’t labor or spin thread. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was adorned like one of these. If that’s how God clothes the grass, which is in the field today and is thrown into the furnace tomorrow, how much more will he do for you—you of little faith?”
Luke 12:27-28 (CSB)

Arise and shine, dear one! God is with you!
Spring has sprung in the Pacific Northwest and my kids are out of school on Spring Break, soaking up the moments of sunshine in between the days of rain. Trees are in bloom and flowers are abundant, along with the allergies that accompany them this time of year.
In this passage in Luke, Jesus is teaching his disciples. I wonder if there were wildflowers growing close by where he was speaking. I imagine listening to Jesus and looking at the beauty of those flowers while realizing how much more God values and cares for me.
Jesus continues to express tenderness towards His followers as He goes on to say in Luke 12:32, “Don’t be afraid, little flock, because your Father delights to give you the kingdom.” Was there a flock of sheep grazing nearby? If I was there, I likely would have pictured Jesus as my shepherd, caring for me as His sheep, pointing me to His Father who delights to give me the kingdom.
In the middle of Jesus’ kind words and compassion, He also uses a phrase pointing out the hearts of those listening, “you of little faith.” This makes me wonder, do I live my life that reflects faith and trust that God will keep His promises? Do I believe God at His Word?
As you enjoy the beauty of Spring around you today, consider how the wildflowers grow. Do you believe God cares for you, more than those flowers? Do you live like you trust Jesus, dear one? Is anything causing you to worry today? Share your heart with your Father and read His Word (Luke 12:22-33 or Matthew 6:25-34 is a great place to start). You may notice your faith blooming a little more each day, just like those flowers, as you spend time with the Lord.
