Go and Make Disciples

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)

Go and Make Disciples

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)

Arise and shine, dear one! God is with you!

These verses found in the Gospel of Matthew are Jesus’ final words at the end of the book. We often hear it referred to as “The Great Commission.” It’s our assignment to go and make disciples. That can sound like a big task!

While some will be called to go to other countries, for a lot of us, we are living out the great commission in our day-to-day lives with the people in our home, our neighbors down the street, our coworkers, and those we interact with at the coffee shop or the gym. We may not be flying around the world to go to other nations but keep your eyes open for who may be moving in down your street. God may be bringing the nations to you!

I love the last part of this verse. Jesus reminds us that He is with us always. When you feel that tug from the Holy Spirit to share your faith, yet also the mix of emotions that go with taking that step of boldness, remember that Jesus is with you. Follow His command to share what you believe and put your faith into action in how you live your life. When you’re not sure how to share your faith, pray for wisdom. We know we have a generous God who will answer!

Who is God laying on your heart to disciple or share your faith with? What actions can you take today to be obedient to the great commission? Shine the light of Jesus into your world, dear one!
