God's Forecast: Goodness Ahead

“I remain confident of this:
I will see the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord;
be strong and take heart
and wait for the Lord.”
Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV)

Arise and shine, dear one! God is with you!

I’ve learned that winter in Oregon can be unpredictable, especially when it comes to the potential snow forecast. Coming from California, I had never heard of freezing fog or graupel and I had no idea how much of a difference the elevation of our hill would make in the amount of snow we would get. I have developed a bad habit of frequently checking the weather forecast on multiple apps whenever there is a slight possibility of snow. (My 6-year-old has even learned that he can ask Alexa when it will start snowing and get an exact time that snowflakes may start falling from the sky.)

When it comes to my life, I often wonder what God’s forecast results would be for my next few days. I’d like a heads-up to any storms forming on the horizon, potential blizzards, or sunny skies. We may not have an app for the changes in our life circumstances, but as David wrote in Psalm 27, we can be confident that we will see the goodness of the Lord. While I know I’d like quick results from my prayers, David reminds us to be strong, take heart, and wait for the Lord. Waiting is hard, but God’s timing is always perfect.

The next time you check the weather forecast, remember that God’s life forecast always gives the results that we will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. It may show up in a beautiful sunrise by the ultimate Painter, provision in your life that can only be God, or the answer to your child’s prayer of a snow day, perfect for sledding.

Be on the lookout for the goodness of God in your life, dear one! Ask God for eyes to see His goodness all around you today and you may be surprised at the results. He is always faithful!
