Hand Back the Blueprints
“I will show you what it’s like when someone comes to me, listens to my teaching, and then follows it. It is like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock. When the floodwaters rise and break against that house, it stands firm because it is well built.”
Luke 6:47-48 (NLT)

Arise and shine, dear one! God is with you!
As I drove down the hill near my neighborhood, flashing lights, large construction vehicles, and a worker with a stop sign blocked my way. I glanced over at the previously empty field and saw huge trenches dug deep, with large pipes stacked nearby. The underground work was being completed so a foundation could be laid before the houses would ever go up.
As I waited and watched the workers, it struck me how much our lives need that same kind of foundation. In His sermon on the mount, Jesus tells the people gathered around Him that the person who comes, listens to His teaching, and follows it is like someone who builds a house on solid rock. When the storms of life come, that house stands firm because its foundation is strong.
A good foundation requires the ground beneath it to change… dug deep, cleared of loose sand and stone, graded properly. In our own lives, that's the work of the Holy Spirit, removing whatever stands between us and Christ as our foundation. Sometimes that process hurts.
But when the storms of life come, we'll see the blessing of an unshakable faith… even if that faith was forged through suffering and pain.
Our God is the Master Architect of our lives. He has our best interests in mind, and He knows our future better than we ever could. Do you trust His building plans, dear one?
Maybe you're realizing you've been trying to mark up the blueprints of your life instead of relinquishing control to the One who designed you in the first place. Choose to surrender to Jesus today… hand Him back the blueprints and trust His design. When the floodwaters rise, your house will stand strong, built on the Solid Rock.
