His Ways are Higher
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
Isaiah 55:8-9 (NIV)

Arise and shine, dear one! God is with you!
In the last few months, I’ve found myself asking “God, what are you thinking? I just don’t get it.” When we face an unexpected circumstance or life isn’t turning out the way we imagined it would, it’s easy to wonder what God is up to. We may feel forgotten or let down by an expectation we had of how we think God should be working in our lives. In those times it’s important to remember we aren’t God. We don’t see what He sees.
As we learn in Isaiah 55:8-9, God doesn’t think or act like we do and that’s a good thing! His understanding and ability are far beyond what we can imagine in our finite thinking. He sees what lies beyond us in the coming days, months, and years. He knows exactly what’s going on in the world and throughout the stretches of the galaxy. Nothing is outside of His grasp or His control.
When we don’t understand why difficult situations are going on in our lives or the world, we can anchor ourselves to the Truth of God’s Word and His consistent character that never changes. Within the pages of Scripture, we find a God who is sovereign, trustworthy, kind, just, and merciful. We discover our Savior, Jesus, the Lamb who was slain for us but who is also the Lion of Judah. We learn that we have the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, who guides us.
In what area of your life have you been questioning God’s ways? When you don’t understand how God is at work, look to what you know about who God is. When we better understand His character, it becomes easier to trust Him. He’s faithful, dear one!
