Lost on the Trail to Lost Lake
Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”

Arise and shine, dear one! God is with you!
Lost Lake – 1 km
I glanced at the sign as I stepped onto the clearly marked trail. One kilometer, I can easily walk that far, I thought. I left our vacation rental in Whistler and headed off for a solo walk, eager to enjoy the beauty around me and spend some time with the Lord.
The trail soon crossed a road, still marked with signs pointing me toward Lost Lake. Dark clouds gathered overhead and I felt a few drops of rain. Then the paved path gave way to rocks and a steep incline. This didn't look right. Where was I?
That's when I remembered the bear we'd spotted the night before, near Lost Lake. Maybe this solo venture hadn't been my best idea. I came to a fork with no signs, no lake in sight… just two uncertain paths. I chose the one that looked most likely to lead me out of the woods and sighed with relief when pavement and a residential street finally appeared. With the rain now picking up, I abandoned my goal of reaching Lost Lake, pulled up directions back to our rental, and stuck firmly to the main roads… no shortcuts through the trails this time.
That afternoon, navigating misleading signs and an unfamiliar path made me deeply grateful that our God doesn't lead us that way. His Word is Truth we can fully trust. When we spend time in Scripture, we learn to recognize His voice. As Isaiah tells us, He guides us saying, "This is the way; walk in it."
I've had moments where I've clearly heard the Holy Spirit speaking to my heart, calling me to walk courageously by faith. Other times, it's been the steady reassurance of what I already know to be true in His Word that has guided my next step.
Are you feeling lost on the trail today, dear one? Look to your Father's voice. He is right there with you… even when the path is rocky and uncertain, even when the signs seem to disappear. He has not left your side, and He never will.
