More Than Acorns

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Arise and shine, dear one! God is with you!

"Mom, look at all the acorns!"

My daughter's excitement was contagious as she pointed to her discovery beneath the tree in front of her school. As I scanned the acorn-covered ground, my attention was drawn to another creature who had also recognized this autumn bounty…a squirrel eagerly stuffing his cheeks, preparing to carry his treasure back to his nest.

Watching that squirrel hurriedly gather acorns brought Jesus' words from Matthew to mind. He challenges us to consider where we're storing our treasures. If we invest only in material possessions and retirement accounts, we're left with nothing that extends beyond this earth. But when we choose to pour our resources into God's Kingdom work, the impact echoes into eternity.

Where are you storing your treasures today, dear one? Are your time, energy, and resources invested in what truly matters? Or are you, like that busy squirrel, simply stockpiling temporary provisions?

Take inventory of what God has entrusted to you. Pray about His plans for how you might invest those resources in ways that will last forever, more than acorns.
