Remember the Sparrows
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
Matthew 6:25-27 (NIV)

Arise and shine, dear one! God is with you!
Recently we discovered a sparrow’s nest on our deck filled with adorable baby birds. We could hear their sweet little cheap-cheap sounds and my children were all enamored with watching the mama bird feed her baby chicks.
As I heard each little chirp from those birds, God would remind me of this passage in Matthew when Jesus is addressing the crowd gathered around Him. I wouldn’t be surprised if as He spoke to the crowd, there were a few birds flying around or perched on a nearby tree. I bet those listening to Jesus that day would forever be reminded when they saw a little bird how much their Father loves them and will provide for their needs.
If you’ve walked into stores recently, you’ll notice the back-to-school section is stocked for the coming school year. Fall will be here before we know it! If you’re a parent you’re likely calculating the cost of school supplies ahead or what’s needed for your college student.
Life can feel so overwhelming when your car breaks down or unexpected expenses come up. Just going to the grocery store can be frustrating when we see how high prices are! Sometimes it’s not our financial worries bothering us, but it’s physical, mental, or emotional concerns that cause us to fear. God is big enough to meet all our needs!
Remember the sparrows, dear one. Your heavenly Father feeds them and He knows what you need. Trust Him. He’s got this.
