Steeped in His Truth

“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.”
Matthew 6:33-34 (NLT)

Steeped in His Truth

“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.”

Arise and shine, dear one! God is with you!

As the end of the school year approaches, my calendar is filling up with field trips, classroom celebrations, and final performances. My mind races to the coming summer months and questions begin to swirl through my head. Do we have enough activities to keep the kids occupied for the summer? After summer comes Fall and it’ll be time for back-to-school shopping. How will I save enough to cover all those expenses to make sure everyone has what they need?

Before I know it, my good intentioned planning can end up in a spiral of worry and fear will tighten in my chest. Instead of surrendering and trusting God in my planning, I try to micromanage every detail and when that happens, I’ve lost sight of Who is really in control.

In Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, He reminds us to seek the Kingdom of God above all else. When our focus is properly aligned to what really matters, we find our peace in the One who knows what our tomorrows actually hold.

The Message phrases it this way: “Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.”

Steeping a tea bag takes time. As it soaks in the warmth, the flavor strengthens. Steeping our life in the Truths of God’s Word will make us stronger. The cares of this world won’t phase us as we rely on the Lord to faithfully provide for our needs.

As you flip your calendar to a new month and another season approaches, what are you steeping your life in? What are you placing as your top priority each day? Read His Word and lay your cares at His feet, dear one. Rest in His embrace, knowing that Jesus has it all figured out. He’s not worried and neither should you be.
