Take Heart and Wait for the Lord
“I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.”
Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV)

Arise and shine, dear one! God is with you!
When was the last time you were in a season of waiting? It could have been something minor, like waiting for the weather to finally warm up so you could spend time outside tending to your garden. Or it could be something you’re in right now that grips your heart daily as you wait for medical test results or for your child to turn their heart back to the Lord.
In seasons of waiting, it can be easy to fear or question God or wonder when the waiting will end. While we may not have control over how long our season of waiting may be, we do have a choice in what we focus on while we wait. Are we filling up our minds and hearts with the Truth of God’s Word or are we frantically researching every possible worst-case scenario? Are we bringing our fears to the Lord or allowing others to stir up more fear in our hearts? When we anchor ourselves in the Truth of God’s unchanging character, we can survive and even thrive in those seasons of waiting as we grow in our faith.
In Psalm 27, David expresses both his confidence in God as well as the reality of the circumstances he’s facing with the wicked and those falsely accusing him. Yet, he ends the Psalm with hope and what he knows to be true. He knows God is good and to take heart and be strong as he waits for the Lord.
David also declares, “I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” We can be confident that we serve a good God, and we can trust that His timing is perfect, even when we don’t see how a situation will turn out. As you encounter those moments of waiting throughout your day, be intentional to focus on the Truth of God’s Word and the character of our God.
Wait for the LORD, dear one; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.
