The God Who Holds Tomorrow
“But I am trusting you, O Lord,
saying, “You are my God!”
My future is in your hands.”

Arise and shine, dear one! God is with you!
I caught the end of an interview with an athlete following an impressive Olympic win. The newscaster asked what everyone was wondering: "Will you be back in 2030 to compete in the next Olympics?"
The athlete gave a vague response, but my mind suddenly jolted. The year 2030, which sounds like something from a science fiction movie, is just four years away. I glanced over at my eighth-grade son, realizing 2030 would be his high school graduation year. Where had the time gone? What would the next four years hold?
In that moment, I recognized my thoughts could go two very different directions.
I could travel down the path of fear, worry, doubt, and regret over time slipping through my fingers and an unknown future.
Or I could rest in what I know to be true from God's Word. Just as David penned these words in Psalm 31, I too could trust in the Lord, my God, who holds my future in His hands. Instead of fearing what's ahead, I remembered God's faithfulness over the past four years… how He walked with my family through medical diagnoses, job loss, and financial uncertainty. God saw us in every moment, remained faithful on the hardest days, and continues to write a testimony of healing and provision that could only come from Him.
As you ponder the years to come, what path do your thoughts take? Do you allow your emotions to lead you down a dark road of fears and doubts? Or do you anchor yourself in the Truth, take those anxious thoughts captive, and choose to trust the God who authors your days?
God sees you today, dear one, and in all the days to come. He knows the desires of your heart and the moments that scare you most. He walks with you through it all, holding you close, asking you to trust Him.
Maybe in 2030 you'll look back on these four years and realize God was bigger than your fears and more faithful than you could ever have imagined.
