The Grandma Who Prayed

Arise and shine, dear one! God is with you!
I rummaged through my jewelry box to find just the right necklace. There it was! The mix of jewels in a silver setting complemented my outfit perfectly. But it was the memories this necklace held that captured my attention. It belonged to my grandma… my grandma who prayed.
I remember going through her things after she passed and finding pages of notes tucked in her Bible with my name on them… prayer requests she was lifting before the Lord on my behalf. Every time I wear her necklace, I'm reminded of her strong faith and how she prayed for me.
My grandma prayed believing that it made a difference. She believed what John wrote in his letter: "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us." She knew God heard her every word as she lifted her concerns to Jesus.
The lyrics to a new Forrest Frank song, "Somebody Prayed," also reflect the power of a praying grandma:
My grandma laid hands on my head
Every single night I went to bed…
…I'm standing here
Like some kind of living proof
That maybe I got where I am today
'Cause somebody prayed
Is there someone in your life who has been praying for you, dear one? There might even be someone praying over you right now that you don't know.
As I secured the clasp of my grandmother's necklace, I wondered… will this same necklace someday be passed on to a grandchild who remembers me as their grandma who prayed?
Choose to live and pray in such a way that someone may one day say, I'm here because you prayed.
