The One Who Chose You

Arise and shine, dear one! God is with you!
I caught myself doing it again. I wasn't even scrolling social media, but the thoughts came the moment I saw a photo of another Bible teacher and read her bio. I don't look like her. I don't have her credentials. Feelings of inadequacy and doubt flooded my mind. I'd fallen into that dreaded trap of comparison… the one that threatens to steal our joy and pull us away from what we know to be true.
It can happen in an instant. We may be avoiding Instagram yet find ourselves watching the mom at the store whose children are perfectly behaved and who seems to have it all together. We may walk through the doors of our own church, watch the people on stage, and quietly begin comparing our gifts to theirs, doubting our value and worth.
We live in a world that makes it standard practice to strive for the top: Instagram-worthy homes, Pinterest-perfect kids, and résumés that impress at a glance. But that's not the story we find in Scripture. When Samuel was sent to anoint the next king of Israel, God reminded him that outward appearance wasn't what He was looking for. The Lord looks at the heart. David wasn't chosen because he was the tallest, the strongest, or the most kingly in appearance. David was chosen because he had a heart after God's own heart.
When I found myself falling into the comparison trap, God met me right there. He reminded me that He has equipped me to do exactly what He has called me to do. And dear one, that is just as true for you. God has equipped you for the path He's placed before you in this season of your life. Don't believe the lies of the enemy that whisper you don't measure up, that someone else is more qualified, more gifted, more worthy of being used by God.
The next time comparison creeps in, turn your eyes back to the One who chose you. God's track record in Scripture is clear: He doesn't make mistakes, and He doesn't call the equipped… He equips the called. You are not an afterthought. You are not behind. You are exactly where He needs you to be… and you can trust the One who chose you.
