Arise and shine, dear one! God is with you!
Time is tickin' away… tick tick tickin' away
I grew up in the 90’s and DC Talk was my favorite Christian band for a long time. They have a song called “Time Is” on their Free at Last album and when I think about the passage of time, this song instantly gets stuck in my head.
Our days are filled with checking our phones, watches, or clock on the wall to see what time it is. Sometimes time seems to creep along at a snail’s pace and other moments we wonder where the time has gone!
Moses wrote Psalm 90, and I imagine he did a lot of keeping track of time. He knew he would be spending forty years in the wilderness before the next generation of Israelites would be able to enter the Promised Land.
We can see from Psalm 90:12, that as Moses numbered his days, his desire was for a heart of wisdom. How often do we long for more time, money, or resources? Moses recognized the value of gaining a heart of wisdom which would then have an impact on how he used his time and resources.
James 1:5 reminds us that “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
As you mark the days off on your calendar, what do you hope to gain, dear one? Have you asked God for wisdom in whatever situations you are facing today? He’s faithful to provide that wisdom for you today and each day after that.
Time is tickin’ away. How will you use the time God has given you?
