Treasuring What Never Disconnects
“I rejoice in your word
like one who discovers a great treasure.”

“I rejoice in your word
like one who discovers a great treasure.”
Psalm 119:162 (NLT)
Arise and shine, dear one! God is with you!
"Mom, my Alexa stopped working. It says it's having trouble connecting to the internet."
This was not how I envisioned my morning starting. Shortly before my alarm went off, all my kids woke up early because the music they sleep to had stopped playing. The internet was down. We don't always realize how much our lives (and our homes) depend on the internet until it stops working.
Some of my children handled the outage better than others. As I watched their responses and reflected on my own struggle to adjust throughout the day, I found myself wondering: How would we react if what we hold dear in our faith was suddenly disconnected? What would my response be if I couldn't access a Bible? If God's prayer line went down and He wouldn't hear me? Or if my community of believers could no longer connect? How much would I notice those disruptions?
Sometimes we don't recognize how much we value something until we lose access to it. Throughout Psalm 119, we're reminded that Scripture should be something we hold in high regard. The Psalmist encourages us to rejoice in God's Word and treasure it dearly. Yet how many of us actually do that?
The good news is that unlike my internet service, our connection to God never goes down! We can hide His Word in our hearts, talk to Him anytime, and be thankful for the abundance of opportunities to connect with other believers. We have the Bible at our fingertips, in our own language, including in free apps we can download on our phones and carry with us wherever we go!
How are you treasuring God and His Word today, dear one? The next time your Wi-Fi goes down, or your technology fails, let it be a gentle reminder: the most important connection in your life is already secure. God is listening, His Word is waiting, and His love never disconnects.
