Whispers in the Wind
“As you do not know the path of the wind,
or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb,
so you cannot understand the work of God,
the Maker of all things.”
Ecclesiastes 11:5 (NIV)

Arise and shine, dear one! God is with you!
The wind whipped around me, tugging at the thin pages of my Bible as I sat in the shade, savoring my time alone with the Lord. It had been a week of quiet confusion… moments when I simply couldn't understand what God was doing. He seemed silent, and I was frustrated with that silence.
Then the gentle breeze intensified. Soon I was battling gusts, struggling to see through my hair whipping across my face.
In the middle of that little skirmish with the weather, a quote from Billy Graham surfaced in my mind:
"Can you see God? You haven't seen Him? I've never seen the wind. I see the effects of the wind, but I've never seen the wind. There's a mystery to it."
Even though I couldn't see the wind that morning, I was feeling its effects everywhere.
The author of Ecclesiastes reminds us that God is the Maker of all things, even when we can't see Him or understand how He is working in our lives. And because of who He is, we can trust Him. He is good. He is faithful. He is kind and loving. He is sovereign. His silence is not His absence.
I smoothed the wind-wrinkled pages of my Bible and let that truth settle over me. In those moments when God seems quiet, I still have His Word open in my hands and His Spirit alive inside me.
Are you in a season where God seems silent, dear one? Open Scripture and let His Truth wash over you. Ask the Holy Spirit to illuminate His Word in your heart, and then watch for His effects all around you, even when you can't see His hand directly in the circumstances you’re facing.
My soul found comfort that morning, and I knew I wasn't alone. God was right there, reminding me of His Presence through the very wind I couldn't see.
