Worthy is the Lamb
“Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels around the throne, and also of the living creatures and of the elders. Their number was countless thousands, plus thousands of thousands. They said with a loud voice,
Worthy is the Lamb who was slaughtered
to receive power and riches
and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and blessing!”
Revelation 5:11-12 (CSB)

Arise and shine, dear one! God is with you!
From the time I was a young child, I always liked numbers. I remember my parent’s typewriter and my favorite thing to do on it was type pages of numbers, counting up as high as I could go, enjoying the repetition, patterns, and predictability in the sequence.
I was a math major in college, and I remember sitting in my fourth semester of Calculus class learning about Calculus in three dimensions and just being blown away at how everything fit together so perfectly. Only a Creator could design mathematics to function so perfectly and infinitely.
I can’t help but notice numbers as I study scripture. As I’ve been reading Revelation in preparation of our coming Fall Bible study, I have been loving the way numbers are showing up and their deeper meaning. In Revelation 5, John is describing what he sees in the throne room of heaven. In these verses we see the countless, infinite number of all the angels and those praising Jesus, the Lamb who was slain.
They list off what Jesus is worthy to receive: power, riches, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing. If you count them, that’s seven things and we see the number seven come up repeatedly throughout scripture, especially in Revelation. Jen Wilkin explains that seven is the number illustrating divine completeness and holiness.
God doesn’t make mathematical errors and His details in scripture amaze me! It reminds me of the perfection, fullness, complexity, and Almighty character of our God!
Dear one, when was the last time, outside of a church building, that you took time to simply worship Jesus? Just as we see the angels, elders, and living creatures worship the Lamb, take some time today to worship Him. Take your eyes off what’s troubling you in this world and fix your gaze on the Creator. You can even list seven things that you’re thankful for that He’s blessed you with, or seven characteristics of God that encourage you. Remember that Jesus is worthy of your worship!
