You Don't Need to Remind Me

“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”

You Don't Need to Remind Me

“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”
Colossians 2:6-7 (NIV)

Arise and shine, dear one! God is with you!

Every morning there's something I consistently do, and no one ever needs to remind me… coffee.

Without fail, each morning I'll have a cup, complete with a delicious creamer. (From my recent trip to Canada, I've been delighting in Maple Latte creamer… it's amazing!) My coffee routine is a staple to my morning, and without it, my day is off to a rough start.

But there's something far more important than coffee that makes all the difference in my life: my time with Jesus and His Word. It's not something I take in only first thing in the morning and then move on. My relationship with Christ is woven throughout my day… in moments of prayer, in deep breaths remembering Who anchors me, and in regular time soaking in the Scripture I so desperately need.

Just as no one needs to remind me to reach for my coffee, no one needs to remind me to meet with Jesus. That discipline has grown over the years. Paul writes to the believers in Colosse to continue to live their lives in Jesus, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith. He wanted their roots to grow deep, developing an unshakable faith that overflows with thankfulness.

That's the kind of faith I want… deeply rooted in the Truth of Jesus, willing to follow Him wherever He leads. And I know the key to growing those deep roots is consistent time with Him.

What about you, dear one? Do you want a faith that's deeply rooted in Christ? Make the commitment to open your Bible every day. Just like you reach for your morning coffee, grab God's Word to go with it. Spend time with Jesus… and watch what that daily investment does in your faith.
