Your Way's Better

“As for God, his way is perfect:
The Lord’s word is flawless;
he shields all who take refuge in him.”
Psalm 18:30 (NIV)

Arise and shine, dear one! God is with you!

Summer has arrived, bringing with it a whirlwind of Vacation Bible Schools, church camps, and day camps. As I serve alongside children in VBS, remembering back to my own childhood, I can’t help but smile as I watch my kids enthusiastically sing along to familiar songs, complete with hand motions. They faithfully memorize their Bible verse and eagerly look forward to the water day at the end of the week.

This year, I've noticed a trend among the youth: their collective enthusiasm for the song "Your Way's Better" by Forrest Frank. The moment the opening notes play, faces light up with recognition and excitement. Everyone seems to know the dance moves by heart.

What touches me most deeply, though, isn't the choreography…it's the truth these young voices are declaring. They're learning a profound lesson: their own plans and desires aren't necessarily what's best. Instead, they're discovering that God's way is perfect.

This truth echoes powerfully in Psalm 18:30, which reminds us of our God's absolute perfection. His Word is flawless, His way is without fault, and He is our safe refuge. When I reflect on my own life's journey, I often realize it looks nothing like what I would have mapped out for myself. The path has been full of unexpected turns, challenges I never anticipated, and blessings I never dreamed of.

No matter what I’ve faced, I've learned that following God's ways (while rarely the easiest) is always the best route. Perhaps you find yourself questioning God's direction in your life right now. Maybe His way seems unclear, difficult, or different from what you had hoped. The lyrics of that popular song offer an important reminder: "I searched the world 'til my head hurt, just to find out Your way's better."

You don't need to exhaust yourself searching for the perfect path forward. You don't have to figure it all out on your own. Instead, you can rest in the confidence that God's way is always better than anything we could devise for ourselves.

Trust His perfect way today, dear one. I promise you; His way is better!
